The award is the highest recognition given annually by the world leading RFID Journal to the person who has contributed the most to the development of RFID technology. It is awarded to an end user, researcher, vendor, inventor, standards developer or anyone else who has contributed to the advancement of the entire RFID industry.
The Journal’s official announcement reads: “Dr. Rizzi is a world-renowned advocate of auto id technologies and data sharing technologies (such as RFID and IoT) for supply chain management and retail industries. He has generously given his time and has spoken at numerous conferences, including at RFID Journal LIVE! for nearly two decades.”
Debbie Hughes, RFID Journal’s former Editorial Director of Events and current RFID Journal LIVE! 2025 consultant adds: “It’s Antonio’s turn to be honored, I know that I speak on behalf of the entire RFID industry in congratulating him for his extraordinary contributions and his unstoppable enthusiasm for the technology.”
In expressing his gratitude to the Journal for the prestigious acknowledgement, Antonio Rizzi dedicates the award to all the researchers at RFID Lab and the University: “I am truly grateful to all the researchers of RFID Lab and the Department for industrial Technologies and Systems for their enduring contributions to the RFID research, education and technology transfer initiatives. This highly prestigious award stands as a recognition of our shared accomplishments. Without everyone’s dedicated work, this achievement would not have been possible.”
